See what nearby storage facilities charge for units like yours

Storage Scout is a report we're considering for independent self-storage owners in the US. It would compare nearby facilities' public rates, unit features and promotions side by side, with a link to each source.

Early version, free while we evaluate it. Prices are collected by hand, so each report covers only what we could find and enter.

Summary for 10×10 indoor units, 3 facilities: lowest street rate $31/mo · average $47/mo · highest $66/mo, collected Nov 1–2, 2026.

Advertised prices and availability change often. Move-in promotions can end without notice, so check the source link before you act. This is a single snapshot, so it doesn't show week-to-week changes.

Street rate is the monthly price a facility advertises online for a unit. Move-in promos and fees are separate: first-month offers and one-time charges, so a low first month is not the same as a low rate.

How a report would be put together

The sample above was made the same way a regular report would be. We haven't yet settled how often it's worth sending or how many facilities owners want covered.

  1. 1

    You name your competitors

Usually the handful of facilities within a few miles that you already keep an eye on.

  2. 2

    We match comparable units

A 10×10 indoor climate-controlled unit is compared with units of the same size and features, not just the same size.

  3. 3

We record what each site shows

Online and in-store rates, first-month offers and admin fees. If a site doesn't publish a value, the report says so.

  4. 4

You get the table with sources

Every price links to the page it came from, so you can check it yourself.

We only use prices that facilities publish on their own websites. Some hide in-store rates or promotion terms, and the report shows where that happens.
